Abstract

This descriptive study entiled “a study on teaching-reading
strategy” was conducted at the eight grade of SMP Nasional
Sidareja to reveal teachers’ strategy of teaching reading in
English Foreign Language class. The researcher used
questionnaire and interview as instruments to gather the data.The
result showed that the teachers used three strategies in teaching
reading activity. They were directed thinking reading activity,
directed reading activity, and gallery walk strategy. The result
shows that the use of those strategies make the students more
enthusiastic, active, and creative during the teaching learning
process in classroom.
