Abstract
The use of synthetic chemical fertilizer has been proven to increase plants
production. Yet this fertilizer also gives negative impacts. This is due to the high
level of its solubility in water that decreases the efficiency of fertilizer absorption
by the plants. Slow Release Fertilizer is then needed to be used to solve this
problem. The modification of carbon surface has been conducted by researchers
in order to improve its performance as chemical substances adsorbent. The
researchers mostly apply conventional technology through heating. The result of
this technology is quite good but it needs lots energy. In this research, the
modification of carbon surface cetylpridium chloride (CPC) surfactant assisted
with ultrasonic irradiation was conducted. The character of CPC
(Cetylpyridinium Chloride) adsorption process was further examined through its
isothermal and kinetical adsorption. The result of isothermal adsorption showed
that temkin isotherm model was as the most suitable to CPC (cetylpridium
chloride) adsorption using active carbon assisted with ultrasonic irradiation. This
was showed by determinacy value was (R²) = 0.9952, whereas the result of
kinetical adsorption indicated that the model of pseudo-second order kinetics as
the most appropriate one to CPC (cetylpridium chloride) adsorption using active
carbon assisted with ultrasonic irradiation. This could be seen from the value of
determinacy that was (R²) = 1.
