Abstract

The Beringin River is one of the rivers in the city of Semarang which is included in
the lowland region which is the flood plain of the city of Semarang. The upper part
is located in Mijen Sub-district and the downstream section empties into the Java
Sea which is in the northern part of Tugu City Sub-district, Semarang. One of the
Beringin’s flood disaster has happened on 2nd January 2015. The purpose of this
study was to determine the dimension of the Beringin River flood capacity using the
HEC-RAS program version 4.1 by using secondary data in the form of the Beringin
River map, flood distribution maps, river existing data, and information of flood
occurrence. Based on the results of hydraulics analysis on the Beringin River cross
section using the Beringin River flood discharge return period Q10 Year = 268.4
m3 / s, obtained a result that flood overflows in some places exceeding the river
bank along the left and right of the river. One of them in the 157 cross section shows
that the flood water level is at an elevation of 18.34 m. Overflows occur on the right
and left side of the river because the elevation of the right and left cliffs is lower
than the water level, which the river's left cliff elevation is 17.44 m and the river's
right cliff elevation is 16.76 m.
