Abstract

Land suitability is the level of suitability of a land plot for certain plants both seasonal and annual crops. This study aims to determine the characteristics and quality of land in the study area and land suitability classes for teak plants inKali ArusSub-Watershed, Banyumas Regency. The method used in this study is a survey method with a population of 14 landform units. The sampling technique uses area sampling. The data used include primary data such as soil depth, drainage, erosion hazard, gravel percentage, rock outcrop, temperature, soil pH and secondary data in the form of soil texture, permeability, rainfall maps, slope maps, landform maps obtained from Suwarno Sutomo's research (2017) about map of soil types and map of RBI Ajibarang. Data were then analyzed using matching methods by matching land quality data and land characteristics with the requirements of teak plant growth to determine land suitability in theKali ArusSub-watershed, Banyumas Regency. The results showed that the characteristics and the quality of the observed land were not good for Teak plants, Teak plants could grow in the observed area but the quality of the wood was not good and the level of land suitability for Teak plants were 2 classes namely S3 (in marginal fit) covering an area of 298.21 m and N2 (not permanently suitable) with an area of 1,731.57m. The land suitability class that dominated was N2 class due to the limiting factor namely high rainfall (3000-4000 mm/yr) and other factors such as rock outcrops.
