Abstract

The national cabbage productivity (Brassica oleracea L.) in 2012-2016 reached an average of 22.28 tons/ha. It was still far below the potential that could reach 42 tons/ha. One reason was the attack of clubroot disease caused by the pathogenic fungus Plasmodiophora brassicae. The effort to control this disease during this time was by using synthetic fungicides which in the long term, it can cause negative effects. One alternative to overcome clubroot disease was by using biological agents of Trichoderma sp. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the administration of biological agents Trichoderma sp. on the intensity of clubroot in two varieties of cabbage plants. The study was conducted in March-June 2019 in Karangsalam village, Baturraden sub-district. This study used a completely randomized design of two factors and 4 treatment combinations with 4 times repetition for each. The first factor was variety (K-K Cross and Grand 22 varieties), and the second factor was biological agents (Trichoderma sp. Dose 10 ml and without Trichoderma sp.). The parameters observed were the intensity of clubroot disease and plant vegetative growth (root volume, plant height, number of leaves, crop diameter and crop fresh weight). The data were analyzed by F test, and was followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the treatment of biological agent Trichoderma sp. was ineffective in controlling clubroot. All test plants were affected by high intensity clubroot attack that was 88.75% - 91.88% in the Trichoderma sp. as well as control treatment. Varietal treatment showed a significant effect on the intensity of clubroot and a very significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, crop diameter and fresh weight of crop. K-K Cross varieties had better resistance to clubroot and vegetative growth compared to Grand 22 varieties.
