Abstract

This study attempted to find out the level of students’ self-efficacy and the sources of students’ self-efficacy in learning English. The type of this research was a quantitative research. This research used survey to collect the data. The participant of this study was the students on tenth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Purbalingga in the academic year 2018-2019. The total of the participant was 315 students from 381 students. The data of this research was collected through closed questionnaire. There were two questionnaires used in this research, the first was to find out the level of students’ self-efficacy in learning English, and the second was to find out the sources that influenced the students’ self-efficacy in learning English. The result of both questionnaires were as follow: 1) the level of students’ self-efficacy in learning English was medium, with the percentage 37.14%. 2) the source of students’ self-efficacy that had the highest score was Victorious Experience, with the percentage 27.97%. The second place Was Somatic and Emotional State, with total scores 3562 (26.44%). The third place was Mastery Experience with the total score 3077 (22.84%). The last was Verbal Persuasion with total score 3064 (22.75%).
