Abstract

National cement demand is currently reaching 72 million tons per year and will continue to rise. Clinker is one of the biggest constituent elements in making cement (95%) to produce cement with OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) type; in addition, there is gypsum and additives added. In making clinkers it also depends on the main fuel used in rotary kilns, namely coal (non-renewable energy sources). If at that time the furnace feed is in a difficult condition to be burned, seen from the LSF (Lime Saturation Factor) levels that are too high/ then the results of the clinker will be raw (high free lime) with a high content of free lime and vice versa. If the furnace bait has LSF with a small value so that it is very easy to burn it will make clinker with very little free lime content (overburnt) and this clinker makes the fuel used to be.
Today to see the results of clinkers using XRF machines in knowing free lime (Free CaO)compounds as an indication of the waste of a rotary kiln in the process. The machine analysis is very fast so it makes the calibration curve in the program really determine the credibility of the machine. Verification of the calibration curve can use a standard sample of Certified Reference Material in the free lime compound of Nickel NiO Oxide. NiO was also verified by wet analysis according to ASTM C114-13 wherein the interpretation of the analysis could be different between testing laboratories and consequently the results of the dry analysis using XRF will be also different from one another.
