Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of TTW (Think Talk Write) learning models in learning to write poetry in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 5 Purwokerto. The study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method. The data were collected by using test technique. The tests were carried out before and after the implementation of the learning model or pretest and posttest. Based on the results, the mean score of pretest in the experimental class was 64, while the mean score of pretest in the control class was 65. The mean score of posttest in the experimental class was 75 and the mean score of posttest in the control class was 64. The calculation results obtained that t count was 4.331. It was greater than t table 2.003. It meant that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Thus the results revealed that the ability to write poetry between the experimental class and the control class had significant differences. The use of TTW learning model effectively improved the ability to write poetry.
