Children usually spend more time with their parents, so the parenting implemented by their parents has effect on their behaviours such as their proximity to their parents. This research aimed to find out the correlation between the types of parenting and children proximity behaviour at the age of 4-5 years old toward their parents at Class A1 and A2 of TK (Kindergarten) Pembina UMP
This was a correlational quantitative research and the subjects were 30 students of Class A1 and A2 of TK Pembina UMP. The instrument of this research was a questionnaire of 4 optional answers for the type of parenting and 5 optional answers for the proximity behaviour. The validity was tested using the formula of product moment pearson and the reliability was tested using the formula of alpha croanchbach. Meanwhile, the data were analysed using the correlation formula of product moment.
The results showed that the value of correlation was 0.034 less than 0.20 based on the table of data interpretation guidance, so this research was not qualified for the hypothesis to be accepted. In other words, there was no correlation between the types of parenting and the children proximity behaviour at the age of 4-5 years old toward their parents at Class A1 and A2 of TK Pembina UMP.
