Abstarct: The aims of the research were to find out the students‟ ability in summarizing English articles and to find out the students‟ common problems mostly faced in summarizing English articles. The research was conducted in June 2019 to the fourth semester students of the English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto in the academic year 2018/2019. The sample was 18 students and the method of the research was descriptive. The calculation of the data to find out the students‟ ability in summarizing used percentage formula. It was found that the students‟ ability in summarizing was 76,33%. It means that the students‟ ability in summarizing English articles of the fourth semester students belonged to good category. The analysis showed that the calculation of students‟ classical ability on each aspect were content 69,26% , grammar 84,44%, organization 73,33%, style 76,39%, mechanic 90,00%. Based on the data analysis, the content was the common problems mostly faced by the students.
