Abstract

The need for wood as construction material always increases, however, the wood availability with good quality is increasingly difficult to find on the market and the price is increasingly expensive. In Purwokerto, many furniture factories manufacturing door and window frames got some problems of more and more waste of wood. Wood waste can be used as laminated wood. The technique of lamination is the bonding of the limited grained and chopped wood into wider, longer and thicker wood. In this study, the wood used for lamination was teak, bengkirai, and Mahony. Wood was then tested for its flexural strength and moisture content. The research method used was experimental research with 3 variations without lamination and 8 variations of laminated wood. Test samples of laminated wood were done with dimensions of 5 x 5 x 76 cm in order to make them flexible with spacing between 71 cm. The results showed that the flexural strength of the beam without the largest lamination is 852 Kg / cm2 and the value of flexural strength of the largest laminated beam is 738.98 Kg / cm2. The biggest value of the moisture content of beams without lamination is 17.11%, and the value of the largest laminated moisture content is 16.90%.
