Abstract

Paving blocks are widely used by the community as building construction,
especially for environmental pavement, parks, sidewalks, parking lots, and others.
The main constituent material for paving blocks is cement and sand. In this
research, we will experiment with other basic material materials using chalk
mixture. The chalk samples tested from Karang Dawa Village, Margasari
District, Tegal Regency, with variations in the levels of chalk mixture 0%, 5%,
10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. A sample that has been finished during 28 days, then
test compressive strength, density, porosity and water absorption. Results of the
research, that chalk from Karangdawa Village, Margasari District used to make
paving block can be used as a mixture of paving blocks, a mixture of 5% and 10%
chalk composition including in C quality can be used for pedestrians, with a
compressive strength of 10.83 MPa and 10.19 MPa. Variations mixture of sand,
lime and cement can produce more profits. In terms of costs can be seen the profit
per m2 of Rp. 24,328, -. paving blocks with lime content of 5% and 10% also have
lighter weight than paving blocks that do not use lime mixture
