Abstract

This research aimed to (1) discover whether or not the use of Problem Based Learning (PBL) method was effectively applied on Islamic Religion Education subject toward the learning completion of eleventh grade students in SMA Negeri 4 Purwokerto, (2) find out the contribution of Problem Based Learning (PBL) method toward the learning completion.
The type was a descriptive quantitative research. The research subjects were used by all students of class XI SMA Negeri 4 Purwokerto, there are 348 students. The sample was researched 35 students that obtained from the simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques using interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. While the data analysis technique used is the pearson product moment correlation.
The results show that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) was effectively applied on Islamic Religion Education subjects to the student learning completeness. It was proven by score of students learning outcomes which achieved the KKM score of 75. Out of 35 student there were 26 students who achieved learning completion because their scores were above the KKM and 9 student who scores were below the KKM. Meanwhile, based on data analysis using pearson product moment correlation obtained from the results of r count of 0.415 which is then compared with r table at a significant level of 5% of 0.344, so r count is greater than r table (0.415> 0.344). Whereas at the 1% level of 0.442, then rcount is smaller than r table (0.415 <0.442). So it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Furthermore, the result of r count of 0.415 lies in the interpretation of the value "r" between 0.30-0.50 where variable X and variable Y have a low correlation. Then the contribution of the problem based learning (PBL) method variable to students learning completeness was 0.17% and the remaining 98.83% was the contribution from other variables outside the problem based learning method variables.
