Abstract
Zeolite has been used in many ways, one of them is an adsorbent. To give
more values for adsorption, the research was done by activating zeolite to get
other advantages. The aim of the research are to know the charactheristic of
activated zeolite and apply it as an adsorbent. Activating process was done by
sieving, acid adding, and firing at 450 0C for 6 hours. Remazol Yellow FG is one
of the dyes widely used in the textile industry. In these research, Remazol Yellow
FG was adsorbed by Activated zeolite just made. Then, the effect of pH (5, 6, 7, 8,
9), contact time (30, 60, 90, 120, 150 minutes), solid concentration (50, 100, 150,
200, 250 ppm) were analysed. The adsorption of Remazol Yellow FG solution was
analysed to evaluate of Ce and qe, then these value was used to calculate of KL
and KF
of Freundlich Isotherm and Langmuir Isotherm models. The experiment
result indicated that Remazol Yellow uptake by Activated zeolite increase as time
adsorption increase, however the adsorption capacity would be decrease after
saturated state of zeolite. At Langmuir isotherm model gives KL of 0.0274 Lmg-1
and Freundlich isotherm model gives KF of 29.25 Lmg-1. The adsorption of
Remayol Yellow FG tend to follow of Langmuir isotherm model and gave value
R2 of 0.998.
