Abstract
Chronic kidney failure is a disease whose incidence and prevalence continues to
increase in Indonesia. In patients with end-stage renal failure, hemodialysis is the
most widely used therapy. Most of the patients with end-stage renal failure have
comorbidities, so they generally receive polypharmacy, for hemodialysis, renal
failure therapy, and drugs for the therapy of comorbidities. Drug Related
Problems (DRPs) can occur in the treatment of renal failure undergoing
hemodialysis therapy. This study aims to determine drug-related problems in endstage
chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialsia therapy at RSU
Prasetya Bunda Tasikmalaya. This study was conducted prospectively by tracing
the patient's condition while undergoing hemodialysis, inpatient care, patient
medical records, prescribing drugs and nursing care records. The study
population was all hemodialysis in patients with end-stage chronic renal failure at
RSU Prasetya Bunda Tasikmalaya. The total population that met the inclusion
and exclusion criteria was 1,243 hemodialysis therapy. From 1,243 hemodialysis
therapy, the incidence of DRPs was identified were indication without therapy as
many as 335 cases (27%), therapy without indication was 11 cases (0.9%),
improper drug selection was 4 cases (0.3%), adverse drug reactions was 1 case
(0.1%). This study did not find the incidence of underdoses, overdoses and drug
interactions.
