Abstract

Kelor leaf (Moringa oleifera) contains flavonoids that functions as an antioxidant which can reduce the negative effects of free radicals. This research aimed to provide lotion supply from the extract of Kelor leaf (Moringa oleifera) which has anti-oxidant effect and was tested skin sensitization. The concentration of lotion made was with the addition of 0.01%, 0.1% and 1% of moringa extract. The lotion was evaluated by organoleptic test, pH, viscosity, stability, density, dispersion and anti-oxidant test and by spraying DPPH on TLC plate to be then sensitization tested on the white rat's skin (Rattus norvegicus). The results showed that the extract of Moringa on FIII with 1%concentrate had good physical characteristic and antioxidant activity which could be used as a lotion supply in dermal toxicity test. The skin sensitization result of the lotion was known to cause erythema and edema with an average value of 0.5 in the defiance test as mild irritant.
