Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effect of administration of Asiatic bitter yams extracts with different concentrations, soybean varieties, and their interactions on the intensity of grasshopper attacks, morphology and soybean crop yields. The study was conducted at the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto from May to July 2019. The study used a Factorial Complete Randomized Design (CRD), with the first factor of soybean varieties, consisting ofSinabung(S) andSlamet(SL) varieties. The second factor is the concentration of Asiatic bitter yam extract consisting of 4 levels: without Asiatic bitter yam extract/control (K0), Asiatic bitter yam extract concentration of 20% (K1), 50% (K2), and 80% (K3). The results showed that (1) Variety treatment does not significantly affect the morphology of soybean plants and the intensity of pest attacks, but significantly affects the total number of pods, number of filled pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, and weight of 100 seeds. (2) The treatment of extract concentration has no significant effect on the morphology and yield of soybean plants, and significantly affects the intensity of pest attacks. The concentration of Asiatic bitter yam extract of 20% was able to reduce the intensity of pest attacks from 33.75% to 11.25%. (3)The interaction between soybean varieties and the concentration of Asiatic bitter yam extract does not significantly affect the morphology, soybean yield and intensity of pest attacks.
