Abstract

This study aimed to describe mathematical divergent thinking abilities of students of SMA Negeri 1 Larangan viewed from their learning styles. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects were students of class X MIPA 5. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the samples resulted 3 students in the visual learning style group, 3 students in the auditory learning style group and 3 students in the kinesthetic learning style group. Questionnaires, tests, and interviews were used as the data collection techniques in this study. Data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion were used as data analysis techniques. Then, triangulation test using technical triangulation was used as the data validity test. The results showed that students with visual learning style mastered the indicators of divergent thinking ability including fluency and flexibility. Students with auditory learning styles did not master indicators of divergent thinking skills. Whereas students of kinesthetic learning style mastered the indicators of divergent thinking ability including fluency.
