Abstract
This research is aimed at investigating the school's role in implementing 2013 Curriculum and how scientific-based History subject is implemented in grade XI Social Science 1 in SMA Negeri Ajibarang. Moreover,it also tries to identify its obstacles and solutions. This research applied the qualitative method. The data were collected through direct observations using observation sheets and in-depth interviews using interview guides because the researcher was directly involved in the learning process. The subject of this research was a class of grade XI Social Science 1 students in SMA Negeri Ajibarang. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, conclusion, and verification. The result of the research shows that there are obstacles faced by both the teacher and the students during the learning process as well as by the principal and the curriculum vice principal in running the 2013 Curriculum-based learning. This research also reveals the following achievements: students' character are positively shaped through the nationalism learning; there is a qualified learning improvement; and students show the habit to deliver arguments, actively ask questions, search information creatively, associate or perform reasoning, and communicate well during the learning process. Those positive traits are to arise when they positively accept the character concept and are used to perform it. Moreover, the teacher motivates students by giving instructions or knowledge related to the importance of history to the future. By doing this, learning history will be meaningful, teacher's mindset of implementing annual workshop as the learning method will be changed, learning sources in the form of modules will be increased, and the availability of professional educators in SMA Negeri Ajibarang will decrease the teaching hours managed by the teacher, especially the History teacher.
