Abstract

This study aimed to analyze whether the Multy Representation Discourse learning affetcted students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The research design used was post-test only control design, and the population was all students of the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Sokaraja. Sampling was determined by side cluster random technique and it obtained two sample classes, namely class VII F as a control class with conventional learning and class VII G as an experimental class with Multi Representation Discourse (DMR) learning. To obtain the research data, test of students' mathematical problem solving ability was given to the students. Furthermore, the results of the right-party hypothesis test was obtained for the posttest data. In other words, the hyphothesis was rejected which meant that students' mathematical problem-solving ability with multi-representation discourse learning was better than students' mathematical problem solving skills with conventional learning. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that multi-representation discourse learning affected the the students' mathematical problem-solving ability at SMP Negeri 1 Sokaraja.
