Abstract

Tofu industry is a type of business that can be classified as a small industry. The main raw material formaking tofu is soybeans which were one of the important food crops. In every business, marketing activities arevery important because they include various activities causing goods to move to the market or consumers' area.The distance between producers and end consumers will require the involvement of several intermediary tradersto distribute the products from producers to the end consumers. Objectives of this study were to find out: (1) the pattern of tofu channels in Kalisari, (2) marketing margins,(3) producer's share, (4) marketing efficiency. This study used a survey method in line with the purposes. Therewere 36 craftsmen as the respondents of the study obtained by using purposive sampling technique. While therewere 6 traders as the respondents of the study obtained by using snowball sampling technique. Data of this studywere collected by using observation, interviews and documentation. The basic method used in this study wasdescriptive method. Data of this study were analyzed by using marketing efficiency with operational efficiencyapproach reflected by marketing costs and margins. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that there were four marketing channel patterns of tofuin this village, namely (Craftsmen-Consumers), (Craftsmen - Retailers - Consumers), (Craftsmen - Wholesalers -Consumers), (Craftsmen – Wholesalers- Retailers - Consumers). The biggest marketing margin was in IV showing27.27%. The most efficient marketing channel for tofu marketing patterns in this village was marketing channel I(Craftsmen - Consumers) because it did not provide marketing margins and produces the highest producer'sshare of 100%.
