Abstract

Bioethanol is a form of alternative energy development that needs to be assessed, after world oil reserve more and more decrease. Bioethanol is obtained from the process of fermentation of materials containing glucose or materials that can be hydrolyzed to glucose as sugar (sucrose), the next step through the process of distillation. This research will be assessed 96% Bioethanol purified using molecular sieve as absorpben in the distillation process. As an early stage to observe how far the absorption of water on molecular sieve in the distillation process. The next stage is the observation of the effectiveness of molecular sieve in the water absorption to the height of the distillation column, where the height of molecular sieve is likened as a height of distillation column. At the final stage observing physical characteristic of Bioethanol after experiencing mixing with Premium. The results showed that Molecular Sieve can be used for drying. The variables that most affect the purification of Bioethanol is by using higher column so that the water separation from Bioethanol will be more perfect. Optimum conditions to get Fuel Grade Bioethanol Fuel Grade is the optimum height of 100 cm of column, the initial concentration of 96.87%, 99.18% final concentration, water that can be absorbed was 34.65 ml of the 1500 ml sample, representing only 3.61% of 958 weight g molecular sieve.Blending of 10% of Bioethanol to 90% of Premium 88.1 results biopremium products that still need improvement of its physical characteristic, so that can be used by motorized vehicle.
