Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the kinds of grammatical errors and the most common grammatical error made by students in making descriptive text. It was descriptive research with proportional random sampling technique as the sampling technique used in this study. The population of this study was the first grade students of SMA Negeri Ajibarang in academic year 2015/ 2016. The data was collected by giving a test to the students. The test was paragraph writing test. The result of this study showed that there were 241 or 53.44% errors of misformation, 125 or 27.72% errors of omission, 59 or 13.08% errors of addition and 26 or 5.76% errors of misordering. Therefore, it can be concluded that the most common grammatical error was misformation errors by 241 or 53.44%.
