Abstract

This study was aimed at finding out the use of media in classroom teaching. A total of 22 state senior high school teachers in Purbalingga participated in the study. A questionnaire was distributed to the teacher to find out their perceptions on the use of media in classroom teaching. To get deeper information, a semi-structured interview was conducted to 10 of the teachers. The results showed that the teachers’ perception was in the scale of 3.8 out of 5, which could be categorized into good. As to accreditation ranks, 71.43% teachers in A accredited schools prefered using media as supplement in their teaching, whereas 75% teachers in B accredited schools prefered using media as substitute in their teaching. Therefore, it could be concluded that the teachers in A accredited schools tended to use media as supplement than the teachers in B accredited schools, who tended to use media as substitute.
