Background : Tuberculosis is people’s disease with high death rate every year and it gets worse with many failures of TB lung therapy in many regions. The right therapy and realization can decrease the pain and death rates as a consequence of the failure of TB lung therapy ; one of them is with knowledge and comprehension on the factors that can cause the failure of TB lung therapy.
The Aim of the Researsch : This research was aimed to know the correlation between the influencing factors toward the failure of TB lung therapy in Local Government Clinic (Puskesmas) Buaran, Bantarkawung subdistrict in 2010-2011.
The Method of the Research : This research was an analytic observational research with case control as the research design. The experimental group was the TB lung sufferers that experienced the failure in their therapy, while the control group was the TB lung sufferer that succeeded in their therapy with the number of the samples of each group was 38. The data was analyzed through bivariat analysis using Chi-Square with SPSS program.
The Result : The result of this research showed that there was significant correlation among age (p=0,038; OR= 3,297), education (p=004) and obedience in consuming medicine (p=0,001; OR=0,208) toward the failure of TB lung therapy in Local Government Clinic (Puskesmas) Buaran, Bantarkawung subdistrict in 2010-2011.
The Conclusion : The result of the research concluded that the factors of age, education and the obedience in consuming medicine had significant correlation toward the failure of TB lung therapy with the value of p<0,05, while the factors of gender and occupation obtained the value of p>0,005 which meant there was no significant correlation toward the failure of TB lung therapy.
