Abstract

This research was purposed to examine the effectiveness of Vocabulary Flash Cards in reinforcing the students’ vocabulary mastery. This research was conducted at the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Karangreja in academic year 2012/2013. The method used in this researh was experimental method. The total subjects of this research were 50 students which were divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The treatment was given to the experimental class. Pre-test and post-test were used as the instrument to collect the data. The tests given were in the form of multiple choice. The data collected was analyzed by using T-test formula. From the computation, it can be known that the result of t-test was 4.896 while t-table value at the level significance 0.05 for degree of freedom 48 was 1.677. It means that the result of t-test was higher than the value of t-table ( 4.896 > 1.677 ) which showed that the hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, vocabulary flash card is effective to reinforce the students’ vocabulary mastery.
