Abstract

Specifically, the study was aimed at revealing students’ perspective on teacher’s attitude in writing correction. The method used was descriptive-qualitative which focused on collecting information. The sample of the researchwas 30 students of first semester ofEnglish Education Department Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The technique for collecting data was closed-questionnaire as the main data and semi-structured interview to find out teachers’ attitude on writing correction. The results of the questionnaire as the main data were converted into percentages. The 3 indicators which were derived into 15 points answered the students’ perspective in writing correction. The result of each indicator was described as follow: 1) the first indicator revealed that more than half number of students (80%) stated that the teacher had helpful attitude. When they got difficulties in writing the teacher helped them with some notes in their task in order that the students could learn more and did not do again.(2) the second indicator stated that (70%) students said that the teacher corrected most all the content of the paragraph including organization and coherence.(3) the third indicator showed that 90% students clarified thatthe teacher corrected the students’ writing task well. All of the aspects corrected were vocabulary, grammar, capitalization, and also the mechanic. The result of questionnaire above was supported by the result of the interview to the teachers. The result of interview to teachers indicated positive attitude; the teachers should encourage the students’ willingness to revisetheir task, the teacher had to be more objective, fair, careful and helpful with the students so that the students were happy and satisfied toget some corrected from the teacher.
