Abstract

Background: Empirically lamtoro leaf (Leucaena leucocephala) used to cure wounds, some research suggests that lamtoro leaves useful as antibacterial, antiinflammatory and antioxidant. In many studies have lamtoro leaf flavonoid supposed to influence the improvement of immunomodulators. Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate potency of the leaves of Leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) can effect the immune system . Methods: The method used in this study is a randomized experimental design with complete. Making lamtoro leaf extract (EDL) by maceration modified into remaserasi. Fifteen male mice Balb / c were divided into 5 groups. Three treatment groups (group I) were given EDL 100mg / kg, (group II) were given EDL 200mg / kg, (group III) were given EDL 300mg / kg. Positive control group (group IV) was given Stimuno 9,1mg / kg and negative control (group V) given the cmc na. On the day 8 infected intraperitoneally with Staphylococcus aureus. Activity and capacity is calculated on the cover slip macrophages from mouse peritoneal fluid. Calculation of the number of leukocytes, lymphocytes, and neutrophils from mice blood calculated by Hematology analyzer. Statistic analysis using ANOVA and then continue with LSD. Results: The capacity of macrophages from EDL group is higher than the negative and positive controls. EDL macrophage activity groups is higher than the negative control. EDL does not increase the number of leukocytes, and neutrophils from mice blood, but increase the number of lymphocytes. Conclusion: EDL increases the activity of macrophages and peritoneal fluid capacity models Balb / c mice. EDL increase the number of, lymphocytes from blood of Balb / c mice. EDL has a potential immunomodulator.
