Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Card Sort strategy to teach reading. This research was conducted at MTs Ma‟arif NU Rembang in academic year 2012/2013. This research used experimental method. The total subject was 52 students of seventh grades that were in the control class and the experimental class. In collecting data, the writer used tests as the instrument. The test was administrated twice. The first was pre-test, and the second was post-test. The form of the test was multiple-choice test. After obtaining the data, the writer used t-test computation to analyze the data. The method of the data analysis was quantitative. The result of the data analysis showed that the result of t-test was 2.23, while the t-table score at the significant level : 0.05 for d.f (degree of freedom) = 50 was 2.00. So, the t-test value was higher than t-table (2.23>2.00). It means that the hypothesis which stated that Card Sort strategy was effective to teach reading at the seventh grade students of MTs Ma‟arif NU Rembang was accepted
