Abstract

Pharmacy academic curriculum categorized into drug and patient oriented. Particularly, the patient oriented curriculum will be really helpful for a pharmacist to optimize the clinical outcome and prevent the spreading of the disease. Approximately 70-80% health care mistakes cause by miscommunication between the health workers. Whereas the key for health care quality is the effectiveness of collaboration between health workers. The development of Interprofessional Education (IPE) curriculum at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) hasn't been implemented and was introduced in 2016 during student community service. This study aims to know the perception and readiness of health science major civitates at UMP towards the implementation of IPE. Cross sectional was designed among 106 civitates which consist of the lecturer, laboratory assistant, and student at Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical and Health Science. The result showed that the level of perception was 85,85% and readiness 86,54% with p value 0,034 and 0,136. the level of perception and readiness were good. But there is still difference IPE perception among civitates faculties. There was weak, positive but a significant correlation between lecturers’ perception and readiness for IPE. This institution needs to implement IPE in the learning curriculum. Advanced research needs to find an IPE learning model in UMP.
