Abstract

Writing poetry is one of the skills needed for SMP/MTS students. The learning of writing poetry requires to develop ideas, sensitive feeling, intellectual activity, imagination, and student’s sensitivity toward environment. The purpose of this research is to (1) find out the influence of mind mapping technique toward writing poetry ability, (2) to find out the influence of acrostic technique toward writing poetry, (3) to acquire a better technique between mind mapping and acrostic toward the writing poetry ability to the 7th grade students of Mts Ma’arif Nu 1 Cilongok. This research is experiment research with Quasi Experiment Design type. The research population is the 7th grade students of Mts Ma’arif Nu Cilongok in academic year of 2016-2017. The number of population consist of 6 classes with 211 students. The sample of experiment group is class 7.E with 32 students and the control group is class 7. F with 32 students as well. Research data is collected from the ability of writing poetry test. The data is analyzed by using t-test. The independent analysis statistic result t-test is to find out the ability of writing poetry. It is shown in the group of mind mapping technique that acquire 79.50 average and the group of acrostic technique acquire 70.50 average. From the result analysis above is clear that the value paired t-test score from mind mapping class has 22.869 while paired t-test from acrostic has 16.50. It describes that t-test score from mind mapping class is bigger than ttest score from acrostic class. By this, the hypothesis which explains mind mapping technique application has more influence than acrostic technique toward writing poetry ability to the 7th grade students of MTS Ma’arif Nu cilongok is accepted.
