Abstract

Biodiesel is alkyl esters that are produced through alcoholysis or (transesterification) process of triglycerides with methanol or ethanol in the presence of bases. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that most influence on the synthesis of biodiesel from waste cooking oil with the effect of the ratio of reactants, time variation and the weight of the catalyst (NaOH) using the reaction transestrifikasi the yield of biodiesel and optimization of the most influential factors on the synthesis of biodiesel from waste cooking oil with the effect of the ratio Reactants, time variation and weight of catalyst (NaOH) using transestrification reaction to biodysel yield. This study was conducted using cooking oil once fried. The most influential factor in the synthesis of biodiesel from waste cooking oil with the effect of the ratio of reactants, time and weight variation of the catalyst (NaOH) using transestrifikasi reaction to the yield of biodiesel is compared to wt% wt% catalyst mixture: ± 0.2% at a yield of 90%. Optimization of the most influential factors on the synthesis of biodiesel from waste cooking oil with the effect of the ratio of reactants, time variation and the weight of the catalyst (NaOH) using the reaction transestrifikasi the yield of biodiesel is the optimization of the catalyst NaOH 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4% and 0.5% by weight 0.2% catalyst versus the weight of the factor optimization mixture was most influential with a yield of ± 90%.
