Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effectiveness of active knowledge sharing to teach reading in recount text in Junior High School especially of eight grade students of SMP N 1 Somagede in academic year 2013/2014. This research was experimental research. The subject of this research was 64 respondents which were divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. In collecting the data, pre-test and post-test were used to find out the effect of the treatment given to the experimental and control class. The test given was in the form of objective test, especially multiple choices. In analyzing the data, t-test was used to obtain the result of the treatment. Based on the computation, the result of t-test was 2.373 while the value of t-table was 1.671 with df=62. It meant that the result of t-test was higher than the value of t-table (2.373 > 1.671) which showed that hypothesis made was acceptable. Thus, it can be said that active knowledge sharing was effective to teach reading in recount text.
