Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the English language teaching strategies that are used by the English teachers in the mainstream classes. The participants of this research were the 7th grade English teacher at SMP Muhammadiyah Kemabaran and 9th grade English teacher at SMP Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyah Purwokerto. All teachers teach the students in the mainstream classes. The data were obtained by using interview, observation, and documents. The analysis showed there are significant differences strategies that are used by the participants. Even though both of teachers have different strategies to teach the students with autism in the mainstream classes, they have the same goal to make the student life independent in their society. Both of teachers tried to help the students to improve their life skills, so they can use their skill to live in their society.
