Abstract

Banjarparakan-Menganti road is located in Banyumas Regency, Central Java Province, which outstretches from north to south as long as 1.9 km with 4-7 m width. This road belongs to regency road with depression at sta 0+175 to 0+225. Depression occurs as long as 50m with 3-5m depth. This road displaced as long as 7m to east, which cut the people's primary access. This research aimed to know the characteristics and classification of sub grade. Data of ground investigation were secondary data from Public Works Service of Banyumas Regency and other data were obtained from literature study related to case study and surrounding area. Analysis of ground development potential was conducted based on USBR (1974), Chen (1975). Analysis of ground activeness was done based on Skempton. The analysis result of ground development potential shows that road sub grade had development potential 0.819 (<10) with category low. Activeness level was 1.42 (>1.25) which belonged to active ground so that it could affect the stability of slope in the road. The analysis of ground qualification shows that road sub grade was CL (lean clay) with liquid limit (LL) 69.5% (>50%) and water content 64.35% (>1.82%). The liquid limit and water content were categorized very high.
