Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of think pair share in teaching listening. This method used in this research was experimental research. This experimental research involved: experimental class and control class in which each class consisted 30 students. The subject of the research was 30 students of VII A as an experimental class and 30 students of VII C as a control class. Test was used as the instrument to collect the data. Test was used in collecting data, namely pre-test and post-test in instrument was tried out to part of population to know was validity and reliability. The tests consist of multiple choices and fill in the blank. Statically calculation gave 62.83 as the mean score of pre-test and 74.33 as the mean score post-test in experimental class. Meanwhile, the mean score of pre-test and post-test in control class was 71.5 and 60.83.So, there was improvement from pre-test and post-test as many of 12,33 in the experimental class and in the control class was 9.66. Furthermore the data was analyzed by using t-test. Based on the computation t-test result 4.285 and t-table was 1.671. It means that t-test result was higher than t-table (4.285>1.671). It could be concluded that think pair share was effective in teaching listening on seventh grade students of SMP N 3 Ajibarang in academic 2016/217.
