Abstract

This research aimed to figure out pseude mind in solving mathematical problems in SMP Negeri 2 Banyumas on the topic of Circle. The method was qualitative descriptive. The research subjects were all eighth grade students (class E) using purposive sampling technique. The students were grouped into three levels/categories; low, medium and high. The were three students of each level. The total respondent numbers were 9. Techniques of data collection were test, interview, adn documentation. The research result showed that: 1) The students on low level experienced analytic-pseudo in solving mathematical problems, they did mistakes in their final answers, 2) students in medium level experienced analytic-pseudo or correct-pseudo, 3) students in high level category experienced analytic-pseudo and incorrect-pseudo, and 4) students experienced pseudo thinking should choose a procedure using their own reasoning and be sure as the proper understanding, so they did not need to re-check their answers.
