Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the students‟ learning style preferences. The learning style preference which was used in this research was based on Knowles (2003:60). The study was done from 1st april until 4th August 2011. The writer used Descriptive Quantitative method to describe and to know the data statistic of students learning style preferences. The number of respondents was 45 students from fourth semester at English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. In collecting the data, the writer used questionnaire. After analyzing of the data, the writer found the total percentage of each learning style category. The percentage of concrete learning style was 17, 8%, analytical learning style was 24, 4%, communicative learning style was 13, 4%, and authority-oriented learning style was 44, 4%. The writer concluded that most of students of fourth semester in English Department prefer Authority-oriented learning style.
