Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Song for teaching vocabulary at the fourth grade of SD N 1 Pasir Kulon, in academic year 2015/2016. This research used quasi experimental. The participants of this research were the fourth grade students of SD N 1 Pasir Kulon. There were two classes, in which class A as the experimental class and class B as the control class. Test was used in collecting the data. Based on the computation, t-test result was 9.862 and the result of t-table at the significant level 0.05 with the degree of freedom 64 was 0.294. The calculation of t-obtained with t-table concluded that t- obtained was higher than t-table (9.862>0.294). Song was effective to develop students‟ competence of vocabulary such as verbs, nouns and adjectives.In using song as the media, students feel very excited and motivated. Students can hear the native pronunciation of words, so the students can spell and know the meaning of the words.Based on the description mentioned previously, it showed that song was effective for teaching vocabulary at the fourth grade students of SD N 1 Pasir Kulon in the academic year 2015/2016.
