Abstract

The aims of this research were: 1) to know the students’ perception of teaching learning process in scientific writing class. 2) to know the factors that influence the students’ perception of scientific writing class. This research was conducted at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The data of the research was collected on April 6, 2010. The samples of this research were 38 students from the sixth semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The writer took the sample by using random sampling. In collecting the data the writer used questionnaire as the instuments of the research. The method used descriptive qualitative. Having analyzed the data, the writer found that the average of students’ perception of teaching learning process in scientific writing class on the sixth semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto academic year 2009/2010 was 3.834 and it belongs to a good category. The students who have very good perception of scientific writing were 10 students (4.001-5), and the students who have good perception of scientific writing were 28 students (3.001-4). It could be said that most of the respondents had positive perception of teaching learning process in scientific writing class. Based on the computation result of this research, there were five factors influencing the students perception; (1) Linguistic factor was 20.56%, (2) Students factor was 21.68%, (3) Teacher factor was 19.30%, (4) The Use of Instuctional Method was 20.28%, (5) The Use of Facilities and Instuctional Media was 18.18%. It could be said that the factor that influences much the students’ perception of scientific writing class is student’s factor.
