Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of room situation game to teach listening at senior high school 1 Sidareja in academic year 2016/2017. This research used experimental design. The population of this research was 294 students. The sample of this research was 62 respondents. The respondents were divide into two groups as the subjects of the research; XI science 3 as the experimental class consisting of 32 students, and XI science 2 as the control class consisting of 30 students. The treatment was carried out from 11th April to 4th May 2017. After that, the data was analyzed using t-test computation to know the effectiveness of Room Situation Game. The result was that the t-test (4,608) was higher than the t-table (1.671) at d,f of 62 and the level of significance α = 0.05. Besides that, the mean score of pretest and posttest for experimental class were 61.32 and 71.33, while score of pretest and posttest for control class were 61.08 and 65.76, and the deviation score of experimental class and control class were 10 and 4,7. It can be concluded that Room Situation Game is effective to teach listening of SMA N 1 Sidareja at XI grade students in the academic year 2016/2017.
