Abstract
Background : URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) is a disease that has a
high prevalence rate. The Ministry of Health of The Republic of Indonesia report
on Riset Kesehatan Dasar Jawa Tengah 2007 that Banyumas has URI Prevalence
rate 34,5%. The one of causes of this disease is the Staphylococcus aureus
bacteria. Meanwhile, according to some studies, antibiotics are often used for this
therapy are amoxicillin, cotrimoxazole, tetracyclineand ciprofloxacin.
Objectives : The purpose of this research is to find out the sensitivity
Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that had been isolated from sputum in patients
with upper respiratory infection in Puskesmas Kembaran I Kabupaten Banyumas
to amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin, cotrimoxazole, and tetracycline
Methods : The method of this research is observational descriptive
study with collection sputum from Patient URI’s patiens in Puskesmas Kembaran
I Kabupaten Banyumas to be isolated and tested sensitivity.
Results : From 88 patients who is included in this research, there
were 55 male and 33 female with a mean of patient age is 6-12 years old. Patients
not only came from within the region of region area of Puskesmas Kembaran I
Banyumas but also came from outside the region. A number of 31 patients came
from outside the region and 57 patients came from within the region. From the 88
sputum samples, only 41 samples containing Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and
after the test the sensitivity of the bacteria, the bacteria were still 100% sensitive
to cotrimoxazole and ciprofloxacin. But as much as 87.80% bacteria sensitive and
12.20% bacteria were intermediate to tetracycline. As much as 56.1% bacteria
were resistant, 4.88% bacteria were intermediate and 39.02% bacteria were still
sensitive with amoxicillin.
