Abstract

The aim of the research was to find out the effectiveness of flashcard to teach degrees of comparison at the second grade of SMP Islam Majenang. This research used experimental method and quasi experimental design. The writer determined the second grade students of SMP Islam Majenang as population. There were 175 students of 5 classes and each class consisted of 35 students. The writer took two classes as a sample by taking purposive cluster sampling technique. They were class VIIIB as control class and VIIIC as experimental class suggested by English teachers of SMP Islam Majenang based on the document of their scores on the first semester. After the writer analyzed the data, it was obtained that most of students were in good category. Besides, the value of t-test was 2.387 and t-table was 1.6675. This meant the students in experimental class got better achievement than those in control class. This meant the flash card could make students understand the lesson well. Therefore, it could be concluded that flash card was effective for teaching degree of comparison.
