Abstract

Background: Street food was very popular food in a most people. On many public elementary school, there was a lot of street food sellers. Various snacks among others peanut sauce and ice lolly are generally very popular with the students. In addition to low prices of course with an attractive color and taste pretty good by ignoring the security level of the snacks themselves. Objective: To identify whether the snack food sold in public elementary school in Kecamatan Kembaran Kabupaten Banyumas contained Microbial contamination and whether it meets the maximum limit microbial contamination according to the provisions of the FDA, and know what microbes are found in many foods sold in Public Elementary Schools Twinning in District Banyumas. Methodology: This was an observational study using descriptive method. In total microbial testing using PCA and PDA medium, coliform bacteria test using the medium EMBA, coliform bacteria test types using reagents Indole, Methyl red, Voges-Proskauer and citrate, as well as the primary identification of bacterial pathogens by using medium TSI and SIM. Result: Of the 17 samples and 11 samples of peanut flavor ice lolly, showed that the samples contained microbial contamination, as well as exceeding the limit specified by FDA in the amount of 1 × 104 colonies / g. In the sample there are also identified negative bacteria Escherichia coli and Salmonella thypi. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research note that the amount of microbial contamination in food samples contained the peanut sauce and ice lolly microbial contamination exceeds the limits issued by the Head of National Agency of Drug and Food control of the Republic of Indonesia Year 2009 NumberHK.00.06.1.52.4011.
