Introduction: Purwoceng is the plant was indigenous of Indonesia that grew
endemically at Dieng Plateau in Central Java. Some scientific research on the
efficacy and empirical use of purwoceng, however scientifically proven effects
adrogenik.
Object: This study aims to finding out the antibacterial activity of purwoceng to
staphylococcus aureus, Echerichia coli and resistant bacteria MG42.
Method: Type of research is by analyse activity of antibacteri experimental using
the paper disc diffusion method, and the extract concentrations of 5, 10 and 20%.
Whereas the concentration of the fraction are 0.25; 0.5; 1% with ciproloksasin
antibiotics as positive control and 10% DMSO as a negative control.Calipers is
used to measure the clear area around of the disc sign of inhibition.
Result: Ethyl acetate extract had better antibacterial activity than extract of
ethanol and petroleum ether. Average diameter of inhibition zone at concentration
20% are S. aureus of 9.97 mm, E. coli of 11.0 mm and MG42 of 9.67 mm.
Conclusion: Based on the research has suggested that Extracts and fractions of
purwoceng (Piminella alpina Molk) have antibacterial activity to the bacteria S.
aureus, E. coli, and the isolate MG42.
