The research was aimed at describing 1) the types of naming the restaurants
along Buntu-Kebumen and special menus offered, 2) the changes of meaning of the
restaurants‟ name along Buntu-Kebumen and special menus offered, 3) the reason
factors of the changes meaning of the restaurans‟ name along Buntu-Kebumen and
special menus offered.
The research was qualitative descriptive study. The data were the names of
restaurants along Buntu-Kebumen and the menus offered. The data were (a) primary
and (b) secondary data. The primary data were the restaurants along Buntu-Kebumen
and special menus offered there. There were 50 restaurants‟ names and 71 special
menus offered along the left and right side on Buntu-Kebumen street. The secondary
data were 50 restaurants‟ owner or the waitress or waiters. The methods in this
research include data providing, data analysis, and the data display. In providing the
data, interview was done by doing basic techniques: attracting technique and advance
techniques: faced interview technique, recording, and making notes. The data was
displayed by informal display method.
Based on the result of data analysis and research discussion, it can be summed
up that (1) the type of naming the restaurants‟ along Buntu-Kebumen and specials
menus offered included: naming types based on characteristics, the owners‟ names,
adrress, materials, sounds, and the ways. (2) the cahnges of meaning of the
restaurants‟ name along Buntu-Kebumen and special menus offered included: the
changes of meaning because of environmental changes, extention of the meaning, for,
changes, fixed emblems, the changes guidance, association, and the meaning
restrictions. (3) the reason factors of the changes meaning of the restaurants‟ name
along Buntu-Kebumen and specials menus offered included: historical factor, social
factor, phsycology factor, language factor, and foreign language factor.
