Abstract

The foundation is the lowest part of a building structure, designed to
transfer the upper structure's load to the subsoil. Generally, foundations are
classified into two types: shallow and deep. This study aims to determine the
bearing capacity of the foundation and the appropriate foundation type for the
new building project of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Universitas
Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The data used is secondary data obtained from the
planning team. The bearing capacity calculation method used the O'Neil and
Reese method, as well as the Meyerhoff method. The data applied were obtained
from Standard Penetration Test (N-SPT) results. The analysis results using the
O'Neil and Reese method indicated ultimate bearing capacity values at BH-1 of
Qu = 4613.87 kN, at BH-2 of Qu = 7301.45 kN, and at BH-3 of Qu = 5932.71
kN. Using the Meyerhoff method, ultimate bearing capacity values were
obtained for BH-1 at Qu = 10942.07 kN, BH-2 at Qu = 14347.63 kN, and BH-3
at Qu = 12325.04 kN. The use of bore pile foundations is suitable for the FIKES
UMP building construction project, as the vibrations produced do not disturb the
surrounding buildings in the construction area.
