Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of whispering game for teaching vocabulary at the eighth Grade students of SMP PGRI 1 Kuwarasan in the Academic Year 2013/2014. This research was conducted by using quasi experimental research. The participants of this research were the eighth Grade students of SMP PGRI 1 Kuwarasan. There were two classes which class A used as the control class and class B used as the experimental class. Test was used in collecting the data of this research, namely pre-test and post-test. The test consisted of multiple choice items and scrabble letters items. Based on the computation, the t-test result was 2.295 and the result of t-table at the significant level 0.05 with degree of freedom 78 was 1.664. From the calculation t-obtained was higher than t-table (2.295>1.664). Based on the research result, it was concluded that whispering game was effective for teaching vocabulary at the Eighth Grade students of SMP PGRI 1 Kuwarasan in the Academic Year 2013/2014.
