Abstract

The objective of the research is to know whether picture series is effective for teaching writing narrative text. The reasearch was carried out in SMP Negeri 3 Sumbang, from May till June 2019. The research method was quasi-experiment. The population was the eighth grade students and the sample was selected by using purposive sampling. The sample was VIII A as control class and VIII D as experimental class. The result of the research showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. The improvement of experimental classs (83.41%) is higher than control class (30.69%). The t-test value (1.735) is higher than t-table (1.701). In conclusion, the hypothesis which stated that the use of Picture Series is effective for teaching Writing Narrative text was accepted.
