Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the viability and growth response of maize (Zea mays L.) in the inoculum isolates of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) indigenous rhizosphere of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) which was contaminated with heavy metals Pb. The study was conducted around 3 months or 90 days, which was from November 2018 to January 2019 in the Greenhouse, Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto and Basic Agrotechnology Laboratory, Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University Purwokerto. This study was a non-factorial experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor, namely indigenous Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi isolates. From 17 locations of shallots that were contaminated with heavy metals Pb. W0 = Control, W1 = Wanasari village land 1, W2 = Wanasari village land 2, W3 = Wanasari village land 3, K1 = Kupu village land 1, K2 = Kupu village land 2, K3 = Kupu village land 3, Si1 = Sigentung village land 1, Si2 = Sigentung village land 2, L1 = Larangan village land 1, L2 = Larangan village land 2, L3 = Larangan village land 3, KB1 = Karangbale village land 1, KB2 = Karangbale village land 2, KB3 = Karangbale village land 3, S1 = Slatri Village land 1, S2 = Slatri Village land 2, S3 = Slatri Village land 3. The number of treatments carried out was 18 with 3 replications, therefore there were 54 experimental units. The results obtained were analyzed using the F test and continued with the LSD test at the 5% level. The results showed that the aplication of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi isolates from different isolate sources significantly affected the percentage of root colonization and did not significantly affect plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, plant wet weight, and root wet weight.
